Referees as pundits exist to tell you why the referee decision is never wrong, not to tell you what the law actually says and arrive at a correct decision.
The 'high bar' for VAR exists for the same reason. To that PGMOL are never wrong.

I thought the club were wise to make no comment on Coote, as the boys club would immediately close ranks. We've played 45 minutes since and we've been denied a clear red, and been given a penalty against for a foul outside the box. It makes me sick how the pgmol can influence games like this.

I hate City fans taking the moral high ground around rules being 'lawful' or not. It's not lawful to headbutt someone either, but if you do it in football you get a red card instead of an assault charge. It's not lawful for your employer to charge a transfer fee for you either. Football is a sport.

The media discussions around Coote are so frustrating. No one acknowledges the xenophobia - can Coote be trusted to fairly treat any German?
They also ignore that this is a big deal because we already had a pattern of questionable decisions against Liverpool BEFORE the video dropped.
