I might be biased, given I've had to make that choice in the sites I develop, but not I tend to assume it will open a submenu. But then that's why it's a confusing pattern, you don't know till you click. But then that's why I went with always treating the top menu as a button for submenus.

An argument built on ignoring the consensus of every major medical group and decades of lived experience. Talk therapy isn't harmless when the person using it is reinforcing a religious and cultural message that you can't and won't find acceptance or happiness. Nor will it ever stop at talk therapy.

Mainly to expand where people could dynamically add in content. If I'm understanding right, yours is limited to connecting after a particular block and further filtered by post type and taxonomy. You may want to dynamically insert in a spot that the block position might not easily allow.

This might go outside of your use case around publishing and posts. But have you considered adding a hook block (like the template part block), that can be added to a template to create an insert position. That way you can have more control over where you can insert a block.
