Twas the night before Christmas, and Patrick was in his festive vest. With a splash of Baileys cream, his coffee made him beam, he would finally enjoy a much needed rest.

Thank you for your conversation tonight, James Mangold. I really enjoyed hearing about your insight on making films like Cop Land, Girl Interrupted, and Logan. I'm looking forward to how A Complete Unknown lives up to your high bar of talent. #JamesMangold #BFI #Movies

Spending a weekend holiday here in Dublin, and my Aunt's dog Ruby is as needy for attention as my own dog Teddy. Perhaps they can compete for my full attention next time

This isn't meant to say the current comic films and shows don't have amazing visuals; they just lean more into looking like traditional films using CGI for effects and backgrounds. That's perfectly fine when studios all their post-production teams enough time and resources.

What I'm trying to get across mostly applies towards Live-Action works. When it comes to animation, the Spider-Verse films have nailed a brilliant blending of CGI, 2D Drawings, and Stop-Motion to create moving comic book panels. It's an awe-inspiring style that more movies have been utilising.

Some might consider Sin City (2005), but while the slower scenes are perfectly framed as such, I wasn't convinced by more action-heavy scenes where they felt more like regular black and white films. Still, Robert Rodriguez's ambition to replicate Frank Miller's art style.

When people discuss comic-to-movie adaptations in terms of visuals, very few people bring up how Dick Tracy (1990) and The Adventures of Tintin (2011) each had a perfect style of 'living comic art'. As a cinema enthusiast and comics reader, I would like these styles of filmmaking more often.
