Hakuho's on a roll, specifically on the JR Rikuuto Line in Miyagi-ken where he's been named "Osaki City's Treasure Ambassador."

Along the way, the yokozuna met many locals who insisted he stop and try the prefecture's meat and chestnut dumplings, which he did, and proclaimed "saiko!"--awesome.

Limiting himself to butsukari, Kotozakura, who injured his right MCL during the Autumn Basho explained, "I want to do what I do best."

About the new roster of 2 yokozuna and 2 ozeki, Aonishiki is nonplussed. Focused solely on his path, he says, "I'm committed to my sumo and on nothing else."

The winter Jungyo has begun with the fans in Isahaya, Nagasaki Prefecture being the first to show jubilation and support for our "new born ozeki" Aonishiki.

And, it's all on Aonishiki to demonstrate the prowess and advanced skill of the ozeki, as senior ozeki Kotozakura is not taking matches. ...

Beginning tomorrow, he'll be on tour as the sole yokozuna for the 22 days of the winter Jungyo.

He'll be home for Christmas.

Golden Boy is busy and pulling double-duty.

Without the co-yokozuna services of Onosato who's out of commission with a shoulder injury, Hoshoryu alone schmoozed the crowd and performed the dohyo-iri yesterday at Tsumine Shrine in Tokushima Prefecture--then left early this morning to lay flowers ...

At the Otowayama-beya senshuraku party, the heya's big star --Kirishima--thanks attendees for supporting him through Kyushu where he was awarded the Kanto-Sho for his strong wrestling style and 11-4 score.
(Cue big applause)

"My plan is to be reinstated to ozeki next year."
( Big, beeg applause)

It was a dark and stormy --and incredibly disappointing-- senshuraku for Hoshoryu, but the yokozuna was all smiles and laughs as he danced with his heya mates and Tatsunami supporters at their Kyushu after party.

Abema congratulates itself for its record high viewership during the Kyushu Basho--in November 2025.
The station also plugs its exclusivity of 66th Yokozuna Wakanohana (who currently goes by his birth name, Hanada Masaru) as its match commentator and incomparable instructor.

Sumo is trending!

Not surprisingly, Takayasu's back is a mess, but who's going to tell a raging bear? Not in Japan--not these days.

Papa Bear's official diagnosis is: Degenerative lumbar spine disease w lumbar disc herniation.
His spinal disc has ruptured and the condition of his spine has worsened from ... sumo.

Treatment (depending on the severity of the injury) includes rest and an avoidance of activities i.e. sumo and wrestling--and wearing a sling to immobilize the shoulder.

If he follows appropriate treatment, Onosato should expect full function in 6 to 8 weeks which means, he'll be back for Hatsu.

Ouch!
Yokozuna Onosato's official injury diagnosis is "left acromioclavicular joint dislocation"--or plainly called,
separated shoulder.

Painful shoulder separation occurs when the ligaments connecting the collarbone to the shoulder blade are torn, causing the collarbone to be displaced. ...

Relying on your extremely refined description of this mature beauty--I became incredibly motivated to witness this unmatched lady of poise and fashion--and watched film from EVERY DAY of the honbasho.
I know your taste is arcane and singular, so how'd I do?
Left of the gyoji, for all 15 days.

Kotozakura on Day 14, but since then, his oyakata admitted to his suffering second-week fatigue, which included noticeable muscle and weight loss.

I don't remember a yokozuna ever exhibiting frailities like this. Do you?
Not to yokozunae who have this sort of trouble sorted out.

Because our lovely Bluesky app is so stingy with character maximums per page, I really should list the names of the rikishi who are NOT kyujo for the upcoming Winter Jungyo that begins THIS Sunday, November 30.

is accepted and seemingly encouraged by some in sumo.

Sure, they are harder to shove, but obese rikishi are 2x as likely to suffer injuries, high blood pressure & cholesterol and have type 2 diabetes, +++.

An oyakata's duty is to 1st care for his charges.
Per Nishikimaru, Asahiyama has failed.

This is Nishikimaru who, at the start of his sumo career, weighed 169 kg., but now tips the scales at 220kg.
His excessive fat made it impossible for nurses to draw his blood (too much fat to find a vein) at his sumo medical exam.

"It is like time-traveling back to the Edo period," she says.
"Around the ring are only things from ancient times: the soil, the straw bales, the wrestlers' topknots, the ring announcer and referee's attire, and the deities watching above.
There's nothing mechanical--and that is comforting."

Prior to the tachiai, wrestlers need to focus and deserve silence, just as they display respect to their opponents post match--no matter the ferocity involved.

True sumo, which includes the rikishi and the sport's supporters, are expected to embody both the fierce and the serene.
