How many lines? 13! It's the thirteen-lined ground squirrel. Much less common than some other species, they really do have 13 lines: seven dark stripes separated by six lighter ones. Personally I always have trouble counting them but maybe you can? ... #SquirrelAppreciationDay

Next up for #SquirrelAppreciationDay is the ubiquitous Richardson's ground squirrel. They spend most of their lives underground - up to 8 months a yr in hibernation ( #goals ). The first sighting of the year is a sure sign of spring! .....
