Cllr Pat Cleary:

Why do Labour, Tories and Lib Dems have so little respect for people who complain that their council tax and pension contributions are funding genocide?

My speech to council earlier this week.
Only the Greens acknowledge the very real hurt that people feel when their money is invested in genocide

On Monday night at Wirral Council, we unanimously passed my @wirralgreenparty.bsky.social motion to support more welcoming, child-friendly neighbourhoods and a proper strategy to promote outdoor play. 🌱🚲🏃‍♀️

A small step — but a meaningful one. Here’s a short thread. 🧵👇

Birkenhead Town Centre works are a year late and £12m over spent

Cllr Pat Cleary said, “What we are seeing is just unacceptable.

I’d like some admission of that. It’s just unacceptable.

I’m devastated, to be honest, as a councillor for the ward that this affects.

Tonight at Pensions committe I had it confirmed that the Merseyside Pension Fund has divested from Lockheed Martin. This is due to its involvement in the production of cluster munitions.

A small win but it shows divestment is possible @greenparty.org.uk

I was shocked to learn that town centre works in Birkenhead are not expected to complete until this time next year. That points to a complete breakdown in the management of the scheme.

The public will be rightly outraged.

The response received was not ok. Judge for yourself:

Labour’s cuts to welfare will make it much harder to qualify for Personal
Independence Payments. PIPs are essential support to live independent lives and are
