@kcarterjackson.bsky.social preached the joy of resistance as only she can when teaching us about the abolitionist movement, & Cathy Harris spoke about her service to the Merit Systems Protection Board prior to her illegal firing. And so many amazing people came out to listen, learn, and organize!

Nathan Connolly gave a stirring reminder that no one is coming to rescue us from all this (we’re going to have to rescue ourselves) and @jfallows.bsky.social helped us understand how things got so bad—and how we might make them better

At the time that the Department of Homeland Security was created, the New York Times ran an article basically saying, “hey, this has roots in the Nazis.” It was a known connotation from the start!

Megyn Kelly is a lawyer, but because she’s working toward the führer, she pretends to be horrified at the idea that migrants have due process rights.

this is both bullshit (the right is not interested in equality) and not at all new. the right has been trying to coopt the tools and moral positioning of the black freedom struggle since the 1960s: sit-ins at abortion clinics, bus boycotts to protest school integration.

The bit of good news on this front is that most of the statues, etc, that were taken down were not under federal control

Trump would also like to restore Confederate monuments, which is why you gotta melt that shit down when you get your hands on it. Charlottesville got this right.

This is why I love archives.

I was reading letters written to Justice Abe Fortas in 1969, begging him not to resign in the midst of a scandal. Strewn throughout were letters from people who heard their pastor defend Fortas.

Ten years later, they would all die on the same day, in the same place.

Walter Kirn: “And I think in a lot of cases, that's true. In terms of cultural cycles, we're in a Tom Homan cycle, not a, you know, Tom Cruise upright boy scout cycle.”

Megyn Kelly favorably compares Tom Homan to Colonel Jessup, because right-wingers just cannot stop themselves from siding with the villain.

A good sign for the Fight Oligarchy tour: Glenn Beck insists that it must be astroturf, because thousands of people would never show up for “Father Time and a bartender” in a non-election year.
