Mostly closeted bi-gender adult. A lot of other things too, of course. (Geek, parent, voter, unpublished fantasy author, etc.)
It's not mansplaining if someone asks you a question, even an implied one. It's just explaining, and anyone bitchy enough to shame you for it should be ashamed of themselves.

As with essentially all gendering: fragile men are afraid that femininity is contagious.

(It kinda is, but that's OK. Let your egg crack, try on a dress, and then be a man strong enough to not need your gender coddled.)

Orion Pax was a bottom.

Optimus Prime is a top.

Megatron just needs to be touched.

Congratulations?

She's leaving because "lost her seat in a blue wave" is a worse position to run for POTUS than "resigned after breaking with a historically unpopular party leader."

And, "held on to her seat despite the blue wave" isn't much better, either.

I think I'm most shocked by the revelation that Europe's "major credit cards" are the same rent-seeking parasites we have in the USA.

I'd be like finding out that EU football clubs are really a branch of the NFL.

The larger point stands, though.

Aside from a SMALL list of metropolitan cores, even the cities in America that have "good" public transport have very car-focused dead zones.

(admittedly this was because I was impatient and didn't want to wait the twenty minutes for her to finish up with her brother )

The city I work in is both walkable and has decent public transport.

Just not in the part I work in. Which is so car-focused I had to cross six lanes of traffic without so much as a crosswalk just to get to where my partner was waiting with our car

The launch year is the year that matters most. Esp if we're talking about what price value could launch their new "console" at.
November 14, 2025 at 4:58 PM
I based this on nothing more than what their AI cultist CEO has said, and extrapolating that they'd want their last console to push the accessories their "agenic OS" would need.

It'll probably just be a shallow update, though, and follow the path of the Sega Dreamcast.

Wouldn't the obvious standard for this being to give the NPC a benevolent secret?

"The king is hiding ... puppies."

"That merchant has a deep secret ... Orphanage. "

Even if you put a different OS on your steam hardware, it's still a spec that game devs can target and which you can put steam and proton back on.

There's no Linux xbox or PlayStation app. Yet. But rumor is next gen Xboxes will literally just be PCs, so...

That's a long way of saying "because Microsoft and Sony sell them at a low or negative profit level and count on game purchases to make the difference."

Valve has the same structure, so may well choose a small profit level.
November 14, 2025 at 1:07 PM
If I hadn't literally just bought my once-every-five-years upgrade I'd be right with you.

I wonder what the state of "SteamOS for your windows PC" is at the moment.
November 13, 2025 at 9:35 PM
For Steam's purposes gaming on Linux is just a nice side effect of working on a system to not have to pay the Microsoft tax.

It won't hurt consumer adaption at all, and will save $25-$100 per unit.

Once upon a time a company came out with a linux-based product that was so mind-boggingly popular that it reshaped the entire TV industry and led to the FSF rewriting the GPL.

And not long after TiVo's Linux boxes peaked, google started the linux-based smartphone OS that everyone but Apple uses.

My read is that the husband may be perfectly fine, but the wife here is toxic AF.

Plenty of men stay in abusive relationships because they feel unmanly taking actions for their own health.

(And that "may" is load-bearing -- them both being toxic fucks is definitely plausible.)

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

If you swapped the d20s in D&D or pathfinder for 2d10 you'd find a game with more normal outcomes but every rolled action would take just a little bit longer.

Same thing for add vs subtract. THAC0 sucked and it's removal was the best chance in 3e.

("-10 is the best" was its own weirdness.)

TRPGs are human based systems, and they are more accurately labeled "engineered" than "written".

Every read of a die takes thought, and the more that have to be read the slower the operation is processed.

1d12 is FASTER than 2d6, at the expense of a flatter curve and cost of a "special" die.
