Wife and I just finished Jurassic World: Dominion after working our way through the previous Jurassic Park/World films.

Worst movie of the batch and that’s after sitting through Fallen Kingdom, a movie about putting a bunch of dinosaurs in a house.

I can’t stop thinking about how there’s dinosaur paleontologists in the Jurassic World universe. Surely with their fossils up and moving again they’d need a new title?

Human populations from Africa have no genetic contribution from Neanderthals and yet have more genetic diversity and have existed for much longer than those who have Neanderthal DNA outside of Africa. This kind of Eurocentric pop science reporting only damages trust in human evolutionary research.
Humans may not have survived without Neanderthals

“In fact, Neanderthal genes may have been crucial to our success by protecting us from new diseases we hadn't previously encountered.”

Humans may not have survived without Neanderthals
A new DNA analysis has shown that the arrival of modern humans from Africa was far from smooth.

Ah yes that time of year where I set out all the holiday things that make me happy to look at only for them to make me instantly angry when our cat won’t leave them alone.

The Origin of Species is not just a scientifically revolutionary book, it is also beautifully written. This is the final passage and I find it quite inspiring.

This is one of my favorite, low-tech, ways of visualizing the past! Doesn't oversell the reconstruction, shows possible past and present in same view, works, rain or shine and without power.
An interesting way to help people visualize what a ruin used to be.
