At this week’s JHB Urban Crisis Seminar, Zachary Klamann (University of Chicago) explored how Joburg’s electricity crisis is reshaping the post-apartheid utility model. Drawing on ethnographic and archival research, he examined the pressures facing providers as users either bypass the grid or leave.
