We're glad to have co-signed this complaint to @rte.ie . Appalling that our national broadcaster did not address climate change in the Presidential debates. Young people deserved to hear what their next President thought on the issue most shaping their future.

🤨We've emailed the Taoiseach after his shocking comments saying he doesn't think we "can mitigate for climate change". It's the State's duty to protect kids from harm through urgent reduction in pollution.

📨Will you remind him of this too? Take 2 minutes and email taoiseach@taoiseach.gov.ie.

How do we explain to kids that the next President of Ireland hasn't been asked about the greatest issue facing their generation? Truly unbelievable that the debates haven't asked about climate change yet. Hopefully @rte.ie will fix this at the final debate next Tuesday!
Do you want to hear what the next President will do to support the essential climate action kids are counting on? We do!

Join us in emailing primetime@rte.ie to call for climate change to be a key issue in the final debate next Tuesday.

Well said! Increasing flight pollution is not compatible with keeping our kids safe from climate harm. Coverage of the passenger cap by media, in particular business media, entirely ignores the reality of the climate crisis and the fact that lifting the cap will massively increase emissions.
Welcoming Deirdre Duffy highlighting in this article what so many lobbyists on the passenger cap issue are ignoring - "more planes in the sky today is not compatible with a stable climate for our children".

Turbulence ahead as opinions clash over passenger cap
The war of words over Dublin Airport's controversial passenger cap shows no sign of easing up anytime soon, amid very conflicting opinions on what should happen.

Aviation's ridiculous free pass when it comes to climate action needs to be challenged. It's outrageous what they are getting away with.

It's beyond ludicrous that aviation has been given a free pass for so long when it's such a massively polluting form of travel. Beyond time for aviation to meaningfully contribute to Ireland's climate action efforts.

Well done to @foeireland.bsky.social for advocating for this.
Friends of the Earth call for international aviation emissions to be included in Ireland's carbon budgets, in line with Paris agreement. Ireland’s international aviation emissions are 11% of energy-related emissions. No to climate free passes for aviation! www.friendsoftheearth.ie/publications...

It truly is insanity. On our current trajectory, our children and future generations will no doubt question why their parents/ancestors failed to rein in such a polluting activity to help protect them from climate collapse. #Aviation #ActOnClimate
