just trying to make sense of why we find it so hard to collectively make good political decisions
You’re right it doesn’t have to be this way.
I disagree that it’s not inevitable. If we have no rules, and corporations/billionaires who feel entitled to do whatever they like, it’s certain to lead to stockpiling at the expense of others.
We need to fight persistently for something more civilised.

Will the BBC still be around by the time Farage gets in at the next election?

I got an impression she was backtracking - at least on the prejudice not racism distinction - but yes, she believes she has a string core point to make, rather than a fairly trivial observation

I’m responding to more recent comments. Her original letter, 2 years ago, tried to make case for distinguishing “racism” from “prejudice” which I see is damaging, but again fairly trivial and unhelpful.

I think her core point (there are “different types of racism”) is correct - but I also think it’s a fairly trivial and not useful point.

Maybe he’ll do it for every by-election, just in case any of the party’s potential voters are bigots/Islamophobes?

I see what you’re getting at but think you’re underestimating their ability to propagandise to fans. Brexit has been a measurable disaster while bringing none of the predicted benefits - yet Farage is still listened to by supporters and is building popularity. Failures won’t embarrass them.
