Happy 18th birthday to Flocke the polar bear!

Flocke was born at Tiergarten Nürnberg in 2007. She was rejected by her mother at birth and had to be handreared, which resulted in her achieving fame as a cub, similar to Knutmania the year before. She now lives at Jimmy’s farm with her daughter Tala.

Happy 9th birthday to Sisu the polar bear!
Sisu currently lives at Yorkshire Wildlife Park with 5 other male bears. Sisu was born in Ranua Wildlife Park to parents Venus and Manasse.
Sisu is easily identified by the scar on his back which shows that polar bears have black skin.

Over summer I visited Jimmy’s farm and Colchester zoo. It was nice to see my favourite polar bears (Flocke and Tala) and I enjoyed seeing the variety of animals at Colchester zoo.

A two-year investigation has found that @wwf.org.uk have been lobbying for the continued international trade of polar bear fur , all while using imagery of these beautiful animals for their fundraising . Despicable .

The World Wildlife Fund is a disgrace. Polar bears are not trophies and the hunting of them should not be supported. Never ever give to WWF again!

Our team spotted these sweet bears snuggling on the tundra this weekend.

Polar bears are known for living on the arctic sea ice, but they don’t live on the ice all year round. Many bears will live on the tundra during the summer months, living off their fat reserves as well as berries and other plants which grow on the tundra as they wait for the sea ice to return.

Generally smaller than gray wolves + a bit larger than coyotes, the Red Wolf is the world's most endangered canid. Only 16 are known to remain in the wild.

Although Red Wolves are a separate species from gray wolves, both species are essential, beautiful + worth fighting for 🐺

I love sun bears but I am always surprised how small they are when compared to a polar bear. They weigh only 27-65kg and they feel like they are the size of large dog when you see them in person. They mostly eat fruit and are found in the rainforests of Southeast Asia.
