Probably doesn't help there's also a lot of misinfo about genrral EVs. I was once stuck in an Uber with a driver that was lecturing on how EVs are a bad idea because they all lose part of the electricity that goes when they charge. He didn't explain where it goes.

If you only read their marketing or fan blogs it's pretty easy to become convinced they're the only EV maker and that they're going to save the world or whatever. But yeah the track record of the build quality and features doesn't really hold up from what I've seen.
