Happily found our favorite Hand-made Christmas Spider crafter at our local Holiday Bazaar, and discovered they have new beaded Kraken / Octopus designs. Capiz shell wind chimes, crystal sun catchers, and crystal watering cans were all tempting. Pretty little delights.

Dennis Adams noticed that his grandmother’s sister, who was mentally disabled yet present at every event, was not visible in any of the pictures. After careful study, he discovered snippets of her presence in the outer frames as the camera swept over groups of people.

Death is my intimate shadow partner.
It is a disability intimacy.
I wrote for Time magazine about my relationship with mortality as someone who just turned 50 as a disabled person.

Her lip color is dark and vampy, never ending plum

Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly,
Scarce heard amidst the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
