This is a place for people in Palos Verdes to freely discuss local politics, environment, history of the place, and so on. Scan the feed! I'll post about local organizations and activities.
There was some talk on Nextdoor of enabling residents to do brush clearing, if they wanted to, on city right of ways and parkland. I suggested they host events similar to beach cleanups and make it festive, but just allowing it would be a good start. Many of us already do this for fire safety.

I've been enjoying walking in PVE after dark. It's so delightful to live in a town where one can do that.

In brighter firefighting news today, the city of RPV has invested in a Helopod, which is a high capacity, quick-fill water source for helicopter water scoops in fighting a fire (when aircraft can fly).

This is still a small group but have any of you read the CC&Rs and Bylaws that govern PVE and Miraleste properties?

Brian, I know you have!

But I'm always curious to know how people received these, when, in what form, and if they read them. Ask your friends!

I'm not a gym person, but this is a shout-out to Fitness19. It's just a "machines and weights" gym, no yoga or classes, but the clientele is diverse, from teens to 102 years old. It's a comfortable, nonjudgmental spot. My trainer, Rebecca Mantei, is excellent.

If you live in PVE or Miraleste, ask your friends and neighbors if they've read the CC&Rs attached to their property. I'll bet they haven't.
I'm considering creating an educational slide show on these, because I find them fascinating and rather misunderstood.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy works to protect and restore open space on the peninsula. They also run a nursery that generates about 48,000 plants per year. You can buy plants at their plant sales, or by online request.

About Rat Beach...
It really was named for the rats. The canyon leading to the south end of that beach was called Pee Water Springs. It was funky. All this nonsense about "Right After Torrance" is a cover story. If you repeat a falsehood enough times, does it become true? So very PV.
