Aymara people have a unique understanding of ⏳ as seen from the present. The future (qhipüru) is behind, out of sight. The past (nayra) is in front, it’s visible. This 📷 draws inspiration from this static perspective and the aesthetics of @legolostatsea.bsky.social #climateheritage

Fine, the focus extends far beyond merely fossil-based objects. Nevertheless, when discussing the domesticated species, the goods we've consumed, and the artefacts we've created, utilised, and discarded, we are indeed talking about #archaeology

White archaeologists wannabe post and decolonial and many (now) use decolonial theory that comes from the Global South. Yes, archaeology and anthropology -by the matter- practicing another form of extractivism. Ironically EU-M archaeologists whom think to be decolonial dismiss their GSGS peers

🎯@sarahmay1.bsky.social we can’t forget diversity! The buzzword in the GSGN. Here in 🇸🇪 I've been asked if we GSGS know what commercial archaeology is. I thought it was a joke, wasn’t. Many struggle to grasp why archaeology is integrated with anthropology and part of the social sciences in the South

Gender yeah! I've been asked ( in an allegedly gender equality country) why I left my doctorate (I had to choose between family or career) why the gaps in my CV ( I was taking care of my child) was asked if I can manage fieldwork properly 😳what that supposed to mean?

#Digitalnomads are part of the problem, especially the ones who work with #sustainability #environment and #social justice issues. Not to mention that there’s a big risk of tax liability when they stay on tourist visas m.youtube.com/@DWDocumenta...

Berlin didn’t invent techno. “The #UNESCO German Commission fails to mention Detroit in its press release is its own injustice. (It's also no isolated incident: a recent BBC feature on Berlin techno and UNESCO overlooks Detroit and the genre's Black founders)” #CulturalHeritage

Have just heard of Tristan Platt’s passing. Essential to Andean #anthropology. He loved Bolivia, especially Northern of Potosí-Macha. He was a prolific Quechua speaker, humble, kind, generous, and a devotee of Tata Pumpuri. BEF I moved here, he gave me his Qaraqara-Charka as a bon voyage gift. RIP
