Happy new year! I've made 12 levels out of my goal of 100 for my #pico8 precision platformer. I'm trying not to think too hard about it - this is more of an exercise for me than trying to really polish something up.

#AdventOfCode day 11 dusted. First time that performance was real consideration.

I wasted a lot of time on part 1 since I was focused on preserving order, so I built a linked list. Memoization is what really saved the day on part 2. Very speedy and short.

Not super exciting to see, but cool under the hood! My level select is now decompressing px9-compressed strings into the extended map memory, then kicking the game off.

100 so-so levels, here i come!

Got a tiny bit of gamedev in during the Thanksgiving holiday. Made a level selector for my #pico8 precision platformer, "100 Rooms of Doom".

I want to try and make 100 levels! They won't all be winners.

Trying the first Xenoblade for some cozy holiday gaming. I'm not big into jrpg's, the last one I finished was pokemon white. Really enjoying this though! You get a lot of freedom to explore where you want. The sprawl of the maps and the world really make it feel adventurous.

I use the anbernic rg353v. Great display, has wifi, sleeps, controls are great, it's really an excellent experience. But, to get #pico8 on it I did have to install ARKOS, which was a tricky hour or so of flashing. I think better stuff is out there now, but I'm happy with it.

Extremely busy test room for a precision platformer I am working on for #pico8. Trying not to think too hard about polish here.

Gonna be a simple game, but I want to try and use 1) compression and 2) persistent save data. Would like this game to be simple but sprawling!

I'm looking for some easy-to-read sci fi for the holidays. Recommendations? I recently read project hail Mary and Artemis and really enjoyed both. Not looking to push myself too hard.

I'm probably best known (if known at all!!!) for Hungry Harry 3D, a simple PSX-style 3d platformer for #pico8.

We are coming up on the 6 year anniversary! I would love to work on a bigger followup, but life is so much busier right now. Would love to have a bigger, livelier world to explore.

Friends using #pico8! I have found gif support here to be spotty so far. I use the following python script to translate my gifs to a mp4. See the alt text to copy-paste it.

Happy to see familiar faces here again!

My most engaged days are behind me, but I like to hang out to follow data science and game dev.

I make little games with #pico8! This is a small cut of some of my games, you can check them out in my bio for free.
