Stayed at home: sorted through a “doom pile” of papers that made a move with us last month; shredded quite a few of these. Leftover French Onion soup for supper. Loved the ordinary, uneventful pace of today.

Our day started similarly yesterday (Wisconsin)

I might reprise this cranberry cream pie that I made a couple of years ago

#FlowerReport from S WI: from the archives, the holiday cactuses reliably displayed in November, in the little sunroom of our old home. Best and kindest regards; travel mercies if you are among those making your way for holiday plans. 🚘 ✈️ 🚊

As you may have followed, we lived in a house surrounded by a large garden for many years; sold that place and moved last month. Our new abode is only a short distance from the old place, it’s a rented flat, but they developed it with little raised garden beds for the tenants.

Reminds me of one of my favorite places to hike in the winter…

absolutely. Here’s one of a few I’ve photographed, from a favorite Wisconsin location:

It’s brilliantly sunshiny here today (with a very gusty, cold wind 🥶). I just came home from the village coffee shop where I caught up on the latest with my old neighbor. Next up: I need to get a pot of soup going, then I think I might settle down with a book and a 🐈 😊 Have a cozy afternoon!

S WI #FlowerReport: sharing fall foliage again this week. That November sun lights it up, and its beauty surpasses any store-bought flowers that I have seen. Kindest regards to all 💛

I’m in the annual category… and yes! It’s very worthwhile to grow

S WI #FlowerReport: we are still smiling, following a small gathering at our new home last night. A little housewarming mum is glowing on the kitchen counter this morning ❤️🧡🤎 Best and kindest regards

(Telo is a master plant propagator, and she’s going to start a new little tree for us with cuttings from the old one. And she will host the mother tree for the rest of her days)

I’m so glad you captured this before it blew up… there’s nothing lovelier than a golden ginkgo tree imho. 💛
We’re gradually emptying out the old house. It’s been very physically and emotionally draining, and I am ready to be done with it. That said, the new place is feeling like home 🏡

S WI #FlowerReport: a housewarming flower arrangement from my niece. We are settling into our new home. Best and kindest regards! (kindness has never been more important)

Me, too! This was an improvised minestrone.

I love asters! It’s such a huge family… I am always tentative about ID. We continue to settle in at the new place. I must say, so far it’s been very quiet and pleasant here. I think we’re going to be fine!

S WI #FlowerReport: spare a moment for these gorgeous farmers’ market eggplants, the culmination of a long summer growing season, sprung from tiny little blossoms to become: THIS! 🤩 Best and kindest regards, dear correspondents.

John… my Crew beat them during the regular season. I think they have been disrespected throughout this season. Let’s keep the magic going!

Agreed!

#FlowerReport from S WI: no killing frost yet. These hummingbird-favorite Lantana and Cuphea are still available for them to feed on, though I haven’t seen one for a couple of weeks. Best and kindest regards.
