Do you get injured when you go to the gym? Talking to a friend and they said this.... Maybe a change of focus is needed; don't think about how much you can lift, but instead concentrate on how much you can lower, safely and under control... Then build to being able to lift slowly and then lower...

Add in appropriate rehab, although we could call it cross training if we wanted and we give the running patient the skills to treat themselves going forward, rather than a person who has a weakness and will continue to need you for life.
They also get deconditioned...so now, when they feel "better" there's the temptation to just go for it...leading to a boom in activity, followed by bust and more time off injured.. keeping running in a modified way keeps a baseline and reduces the likely boom/bust as something has been maintained.
You stop them running... This can separate them from part of their identity, they seem themselves as a runner... Not running is psychologically painful. It can also separate them from their social groups, so the social support and friend group becomes part of the problem.

I do have to say, it pisses me off when I get in a patient who runs (for example). Whose previous therapists have told them to stop running without any effort to keep them running. There's various ways of trying to do this. Stopping running potentially leads to other problems..

When treating people with tendon injuries we have to consider all factors, but also remember; some we can't change, some are long term changes, some are goals to work towards, but some of these can be changed immediately in your first appointment.

Tendon health is influenced by multiple factors!

These should be considered in tendinopathy management, especially where there are signs of systemic factors such as multi-site pain or lack of response to treatment.

The biopsychosocial aspect of loneliness and health.. interesting excerpt. Might try and read this. Has anyone else read this?
I mentioned the book I'm currently reading, The Myth of Normal by Gabor Maté. It's full of fascinating insights into the toxic culture we're currently living in. Here's a little extract where he talks about the problem of widespread loneliness in modern societies. Not the best quality pics tho.

Been thinking about some in my twitter network that haven't moved here. Enjoying the lack of drama...so while some may be big noises, would I automatically follow again? I don't know just now...

This is why I'm so happy to see so many physios, SEM people, osteos, sports massage/therapy people, Drs, scientists and researchers and the rest of you beautiful people.
Someone asked about the mass Xodus of scientists to Blue Sky. Here is a great explanation. It is great to be able to share scientific findings, intellectual discussions, critical analysis and interact with fellow scholars. NO to bots. NO to trolls. NO to algorithms set by an egotistical man-child!
Elon Musk's War Against Science, Evidence and Objective Truth
Scientists are abandoning Elon Musk's Twitter amid a "mass extinction event" on the social media network, says Philipp Markolin.

Good morning Bluesky

Let us tell you about Scotland.
We produce oil but soon to have no refinery.
We produce electricity but make no money from it.
We have ports but cannot trade from them.
That's only the half of it. Wait till we tell you about the nuclear weapons in populated areas!

If you have a painful or grumbling tendon. DON'T stretch it. While it may make the muscular part feel good. It will irritate the tendon leading to greater pain and sensitivity...
