Since 2014, Laura has led hundreds of local mobility projects—expanding our bike network from 100 to 350 miles, implementing more than 300 safe pedestrian crossings and 400 Safe Routes to School improvements, and engaging more than 50,000 residents and stakeholders.

Goats are perfect for this kind of work because they can eat poison ivy without any irritation, they can handle rough terrain, and they provide an eco-friendly alternative to heavy equipment or chemicals.

After previous efforts led to reduced vegetation in the lake, the City and Texas Parks and Wildlife are monitoring conditions closely to protect native vegetation, water quality, and the health of the lake’s ecosystem.

Hydrilla can block sunlight, crowd out native vegetation, and make it harder for people to boat, fish, and enjoy the water.

This carefully managed release uses sterile carp that naturally feed on hydrilla.
