I wish NIH was also pursuing trial of Anktiva (IL-15) agonist. Better safety profile and it may achieve same result.

Any plans by Dr Jared Younger to replicate these PET scan findings? Large proportion of MECFS patients suffer with chronic pain. It would nice to validate their experience with reproducible PET scan.

It would be interesting to see this data broken down by zip code.

• Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) Packaging:
Just like mRNA vaccines, Cas13 mRNA is encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles for efficient delivery.

mRNA Encodes Cas13 Proteins:
Instead of delivering Cas13 directly, scientists use mRNA to instruct cells
to produce Cas13 enzymes.
• Targeting Viral RNA: Once Cas13 is produced, it binds to and degrades viral RNA, preventing replication.

Cas13 seems very promising as antiviral against RNA non lytic viral infections (coxsackie/enterovirus)
Perhaps mRNA vaccine delivery mechanism could be used (Lipid nanoparticle)

It’s difficult to gauge negative impact of trade embargo on China’s economy. Do the Chinese have a beige book? But the U.S. basically declared economic war against everyone. Sounds like Jamie Dimon may need to make another Fox business news appearance to suggest an off ramp that saves face for all

One interpretation is that nobody is really sure what to make of the data but there are subgroups with some leads for further study. Does it make NIH seem more objective that they pursue a psych based model of MECFS? For those suffering, it would be more helpful if the “experts” admitted failure

So NIH continues down this path of devoting resources to studying T cell exhaustion, WASF3 in subset of intramural cohort but also effort preference framed by behavioral science. I am not sure what to make of this. Also how has the funding status changed since this presentation was made?

Ron Davis's group at Stanford have noted clonal expansion of B cells in MECFS patients. Perhaps this AI tool could be useful in the study of MECFS.

One of the most impressive papers I have seen in immunology for a long time. Will be posting a Ground Truths about it soon.
Thanks @scottboydlab.bsky.social and collaborators for this exceptional contribution

Sounds like Mark Cuban needs to open some hospitals operating with minimal administrative overhead

I hope he continues to disrupt American healthcare. We need more transparency and bright spot light around hospital administrative costs. Using AI to analyze claims data to identify outliers makes sense.

It is these complexities and others that make it very difficult for ordinary Americans to navigate the maze of US healthcare system to achieve their desired medical outcomes without breaking the bank or worse being harmed.

Patients do not go bankrupt because they visit their primary care physician or specialist. It is usually when they rack up huge bills when they need hospital care. Where is the analysis of the drivers of US hospital costs vs other modern industrial nations?

The idea of stem cell therapy for MECFS is not new. I have yet to see compelling evidence regarding whether it works.

I think this is one objective aspect of MECFS and LC and I am grateful to Dr Systrom and researchers for their important work. However, it does not completely account for neuroimmune aspects of these respective diseases.
