I know the author is on everybody's shit-list for reasons, but A Study in Emerald is a pretty unique take on Sherlock Holmes and Lovecraft in general, just very well done. The graphic novel at least is beautiful to read, but I can't really say anything else without spoiling the story.

In the boardgame 'Kingdom Death', there exists a monster called a Frogdog, which is about the ugliest sculpt I've ever seen for a plastic figurine. Yes, it's sitting atop a pile of puppies and it has two massive teets:
