I’m not understanding why the set process is “fetishism”. This developer could have built multi-family by right on this lot and avoided a trip to ZBA. We could use more density - instead they decided to subdivide the lot for two single family homes which is not the highest and best use for the lot

The issue is the community meeting hasn’t taken place yet. The meeting with the RCO is a required part of this process for a reason. Our city needs housing developed but the public process is still important and if we are to develop ethically it needs to be followed.

All that to say, it’s important to be an engaged citizen, sometimes things get done.

SEPTA was actively putting up a brand new fence to secure their property when I stopped to take this picture

This space has seen constant illegal dumping and homeless encampments and the tree in the foreground was dead and breaking apart making the sidewalk unsafe

Kind of makes me sad that that’s happening to such a beautiful historic department store, but they have to fill it with something, even temporarily.

I think that putting in place a tiered system for historic designation that they detail in the article will need to happen. We want folks to be able to stay in their homes and repair them affordably.

The city needs to get their shit together. The communication is piss poor

If I knew recycling wasn’t being collected I wouldn’t have put it out, now it’s a giant mountain from people dumping their recycling into and around my bin

My block has 4 weeks worth of recycling sitting on the curb right now. Our pick up day is Monday, it wasn’t collected the day before they went on strike, the week of the strike, and now 2 times after

I could not care less about Biden’s administration right now. It’s a waste of energy.

They are always set on privatizing all services (usps, water services, transportation) when does that ever work out well? Very rarely, that’s why they have one example they call out

Very true. It’s still has me confused how a theater project funded by William Penn foundation money didn’t have the same covenants in place as some of the other buildings that require an arts or cultural use
