@jumpovertheage.com Hi Gareth I'd love to follow you from Mastodon. Would you mind bridging your account? All it takes is to follow @ap.brid.gy and that's it. You don't need to worry about the bridged account, just use bsky as usual. Thank you!

Updated explainer diagram version!

Still can't get over the structures we see in this lens. Physics allows us to see around corners!

Someone said to me last night that this looks like a half-cut avocado, and now I cannot unsee it! 🥑

I'm a Jupiterist: only objects massive enough and far enough from their star such that the system barycenter is outside the star's surface should be called planets.

If, like me, you'd love to breathe for a moment and take a trip soaring over Saturn's rings, watching a sunset on Mars, flying through the Orion Nebula, or plunging into a black hole — then do I have the book for you. I even narrated the audio version!

Interesting. The left half of the sun was taken back in early July, near aphelion. The right, today at perihelion. A noticeable difference in size (to the telescope, of course). Also, for some reason after the last update, the Seestar records the sun as greenish. 🔭 #Astronomy #Seestar #Sun

Happy perihelion! At 13:28 UTC, Earth reached its closest point to the sun in its orbit, a mere 147,104,000 million km distant, about 1.5% closer than average. It's all uphill now until aphelion in July.

An InSight of Changes on Mars

We caught a glimpse of the retired InSight lander to document the accumulation of dust on the spacecraft’s solar panels that have acquired the same reddish-brown hue as the rest of the planet.

You know what? I worked really really hard on my book Under Alien Skies; I think it's an original concept done in an original way, and has my best writing I've ever done. So I'm promoting it here again, because I'm damned proud of it.
