I think it's too early to assume they won't, but obviously there should be a massive fan and media revolt if the #Nats don't spend money this offseason

I'm not worried and I think they'll spend as they always have (when it's made sense to do so), but if they don't...gonna be a lotttt of empty seats

People are often surprised when I tell them this: both Twitter and Facebook/insta/threads are now specifically engineered to downgrade, hide, suppress real journalism. If this platform is different, that's a huge change

Alright, time to give this a try. For those who don't know me, my name's Chris and I'm proud to represent the great state of Maryland in the U.S. Senate.

We're big fans of blue skies (and blue crabs) in Maryland, so this seems like the place to be!

Matt Gaetz, President-elect Trump’s pick for attorney general, withdrew from consideration for the role on Thursday. Sexual misconduct allegations against Gaetz had drawn much scrutiny, including from senators who would vote to approve the position. nyti.ms/3CDuO5D

A lot of people are taking the viewpoint that we’re gonna go from 0 to 100 on January 22. That is simply not going to be the case. 2/3 of all federal judges were not appointed by Donald Trump. The federal government is not all-powerful. Protests, lawsuits, and elections will still be a check.
What should we do to “push back”? Military shows up to deport someone, so what can I do? What can you do? A strongly-worded column, condemning the actions? Threaten to call the cops? Pull out your gun and start firing?

If you've been thinking that Bluesky SEEMS BIGGER than Threads, that's because now it IS BIGGER (at least in the US)

(And this graph understates the reality because so much of Threads is just Instagram-style engagement bait.)

exactly - even just seeing a feed with actual human names and profile pictures makes a *huge* difference
At the risk of reading too much into Bluesky’s success at the moment, I do think it’s a signal that people don’t want to be surrounded by bots and manipulated algorithms

AI can only go so far. We want human connection.

It's notable to me that after years of fear-mongering about trans women playing sports, Republican leaders are now so emboldened that they won't even acknowledge that trans people exist. Almost like it was never really about sports.
