All of us white millennial meeces now have a front-row view of what it's like to see someone like us coldly murdered by an ill-qualified, plastic-wrapped, trumped-up cop-in-a-box.

Lots of other people have long experienced it, and I'm grateful to those folks for continuing to stand against it too.

You'll sometimes see a widow's mourning clothes described as "widow's weeds."

"Weed" (or wede) was a common word for a garment in Middle English and for a few centuries after.

It's from Old English wæd(e) "apparel, garment, clothing" and is related to "weave," but not weeds as in plants.

Stoke fear. Exploit desperation. Suspend the rule of law. Fan brutality.

Every time the stronger brutalize the weak, it’s fundamentally the same playbook.

Our duty is to stand up to brutality.

Our moral obligation is to protect the vulnerable and hold the powerful accountable.
