'Metal', and the 'heavier' end of the musical spectrum in general, has long been - in my experience - the most accepting, genial and open fanbase. Over two decades of festival going, by far the best atmospheres have been at 'metal' events, as compared to the likes of Glastonbury/Reading etc.

As a local, this is pretty accurate, I'd say (they have a lot of techie stuff giving data). There are a *lot* of alternative 'back' routes in Somerset, but the problem is, when you get anywhere near the festival, most are closed.
