Like, I'm an attorney. I fully understand the desire to couch headlines and language to avoid lawsuits, but at some point someone, anyone, with a degree of widespread reach and influence is going to have to just get comfortable saying that blue is fucking blue. Otherwise, what the fuck are you for?

I firmly believe that until ostensibly level and respectable news outlets like NPR abandon this borderline fetishistic attachment to the appearance of neutrality we are never going to progress as a society. There was no "seeming." There was no "appeared to." She just... said it. We all heard her.

Well, that's the rub. Even on a level playing field, the citizens vote red between 60-70%, factoring out gerrymandering. The reality is that most see this as, at worst, a good thing, and at best, a necessary cost to make sure brown skinned socialists don't sneak in and trans their kids in the night.

Extreme gerrymandering, a disproportionate supermajority that blocks dissent, a generational fear of noncomformity, and a deliberately kneecapped education system which is now set to get worse. Things aren't great.

Veilguard was far from perfect, but the trans inclusion, particularly Taash's companion story, was the first time I have ever felt my experiences so vividly reflected in the genre of games I love best. The very first dialogue when choosing a trans background made me sit and process for a while.
