I'm done asking the white male citizens in my life to show more than the bare minimum of performative support.

Every single time I talk about what it's like to be an immigrant, all I get is "that's awful" or "oh my goodness". Sometimes a pat on the arm if I'm lucky.

I'd prefer nothing to that.

In political sociology I used to compel students to critically think. It wasn't enough to say that 'capitalists had power' I told them, 'you could think of the ways they exercise power, there's the Miliband-Poulantzas debate, and don't forget Weber and status'. Musk ruined my ability to teach.
