The search itself looks for 'heavy stable charged particles' which would move through detector so slowly that their signals don't show up we normally expect (in a diff bunch crossing)

Using this new data stream gives access to this potential signal which would otherwise be lost!

More work to be on the uncertainties but I think this is actually quite practical / applicable to many analyses at the LHC!
