Loud Ambient by The Black Dog coming in strong as my album of the year; based around artwork by Rothko, each track stands on its own - but listening to the whole fits as albums used to, at least for me. I don’t see it as ambient in the literal sense; it’s an interpretation with loads more energy.

Happy 30th birthday to the Sega Saturn, released in Japan on November 22nd; I spend an inordinate amount of time with this console and got my first one in 1998. Learning the system is never dull and often infuriating. Still have a ton of fun hacking on this hardware!

Pottering around Rawai, Phuket this weekend, stumbled upon the most chilled habitant of the island, and the bar is high!

New gear #playdate

#everdrive64 arrived today from Ukraine, thanks #krikzz. Haven’t played N64 for a long time, and GoldenEye is calling.

#1 Teslagrad - originally released for the Wii U in 2014, it’s a 2.5D puzzle platformer that’s been on my list for a while, not really sure why I skipped this last year, except for looking like a bigger time commitment than some more casual games. First game to start in 2024.

#2 Fight’N Rage - Side-scrolling beat’em-up in a classic 90’s style, this didn’t get picked up due to being another side-scrolling game after so many other great ones I did play last year, and arriving in November.

#3 Spiritfarer - Cozy management game about dying, you’re a ferry master for the deceased. Concerned it was just going to make me sad I kept skipping it, but no more.

So far resprite has been easy and intuitive to work with, using it in my iPhone it’s just my thumbs that are the main problem. Made a blorb.

Forgot my laptop when coming to this ridiculously gorgeous beach, but can’t escape the need to do game dev…
