Got points off on every assignment because I underestimated all of them 😔. But lessons have been learned lol. Super excited to see what both of you make following this class! #smallgamestudio

Overall, this class really opened my eyes to the bigger picture of game development. It’s not all about sales, playability, and reviews, it’s a personable experience that can be used in thousands of ways. I want to make sure all my games are games I truly love over anything.

I also had to get another level in there, with the newest being a restaurant level with stories from r/TalesFromYourServer. While I didn’t reach my initial level goal, it’s very easy to continue adding new levels post launch. #smallgamestudio

All the art in this game looks fantastic, it really is eye-catching and the whole game gives me Emily is Away vibes. I can’t wait to give this game a try! #smallgamestudio

The game looks awesome! Can’t wait to give this a try. What software and hardware do you use to make the art? #smallgamestudio

Overall, i’m very satisfied with my final project and with my experience in the course as a whole. It’s inspired me to try and pursue game development as a career, or at least have my career center around games. I hope everyone from the class enjoyed it as much as myself! Thanks for a great quarter!

I tried implementing OpenAI at first, but it got complicated and really expensive fast, so I switched to a manual approach with reddit stories instead. Overall, the consensus was the game was pretty challenging and could benefit from checkpoints which I intend to add in the final! #smallgamestudio

I also made a beta version of my game, which only had a single level and a single story being narrated to you. It was a start, but definitely needed some polish. My plan would be to integrate AI into the game in future builds and I just used this as a sort of template for later #smallgamestudio

Around that same time I also started on the game for our final project, I started with the alpha build which was just supposed to be a mini game made to prove my idea in action. It was extremely simple but I made sure to get my point across on what I wanted it to be #smallgamestudio

Really excited for this game, I hope to see some more meta references like seeing the scoreboard above from the 3D alpha. Cant wait to see more #smallgamestudio

My other idea that I haven’t decided yet is whether to embed a video player with ai generated video as well, to really give off that tiktok vibe, or if I just want a simpler experience UI wise. Video Player might take a lot of storage and processing, which may be out of scope, but still interesting

I have two main ideas for the storytelling aspect depending on what is feasible. I could brute force it by just getting a ton of ai generated stories and inputting them, or I could integrate OpenAI into unity directly, which is possible but not super easy. I’m going to try and look into it though.

I thought that Melt was really interesting too. I’m excited to see what kind of inspiration you draw from that game into yours! It’s looking really good! #smallgamestudio

While I actually used less scripts for this game than the original flappy bird clone itself, my scripts were a lot more complex. I really wanted to try and control all the different objects and components through my code, backgrounds, video, audio, and the game itself. #smallgamestudio

I fully changed the game mechanics, now there are little white orbs that you can catch, and catching them…sends you on a journey. With different effects being added the more orbs you collect, I decided to make the theme of my game around drug abuse and its effects. #smallgamestudio

The 7th game played is called pongs. It is a collection of iterations of the classic game pong. There are a ton of different variations of the game and really goes to show how many different things can be made from iterations of the same idea.

The 6th game played is called shu. You have a pen tool and you have to thin out the ink enough to fit lines through tiny circles. It seems to have inspiration from calligraphy.

The 5th game I played was called Ambivalence. You are constantly running from a red wall, and change colors over time until you reach another entity that’s the same as you. It seems to be a message of running from insecurity, and changing you personality or maybe gender identity as a result.

The fourth game I tried was “BECOME A GREAT ARTIST IN 10 SECONDS”. It’s a random art generator in which every key has a different function. It’s hard to tell the message of this game, maybe a call for artists to see how easy art can be? Either way the generation was really cool but seems complicated

The third game was called Melt. You control two circles and either bring them together to merge, or separate them. With the pink background, this game tries to convey the emotions of intimacy, with slow touch and “melting” the two circles into one. #smallgamestudioarcade3
