Yeah and I don’t really have a perfect answer for that since all of my go-tos (“Cruel”/“horrific”/“violent” etc) have their own problems, but I choose them to say what I mean to communicate as literally as possible, without working through the metaphor of a larger behavioral pattern or neurotype

For me, I try to avoid using it unless I mean it literally. I find labeling people narcissists or psychopaths especially (even in a more general blanket way) excuses both me and them from a certain amount of work in a way that’s counterproductive, but that may not hold true for everyone

I hear what you’re saying! I just think it’s worth the rigor of examining when/how/whether we use similar expressions in these kinds of conversations, even edge cases like that one :)

Hey I agree with you but calling it “psychopath behavior” is doing the same thing you’re critiquing
