The case of Turkey in Syria offers no material reason that a limited, graduated intervention by Poland or other NATO members in the West of Ukraine could not achieve similar aims against the same Russian opponent without serious escalation.
Turkey did not need to attack Russia directly to create facts on the ground. The mere presence of its troops successfully prevented Russia and Assad from winning the war, and will have facilitated smoother transferrals of arms, supplies and training to the rebels.
NATO member Turkey's intervention in Syria against Russian proxies and forces serves as a vital case study that demonstrates:
>an effective way to deter Russia and create facts on the ground
>this does not automatically lead to nuclear war, contrary to the insistence of various Western talking heads
