They/them. Geriatric Millennial. X-Files Bisexual. Cranky Yankee farmer.
I should add that Brian is the person who wrote the text for the monument. I don't think he has Bluesky but he is on other social media and is a wealth of local history information

The team was never called the Ruby Legs. Inexplicably, they were the Worcester Worcesters. Here's more info from our Happiness Pony baseball issue. Still a cool piece of Worcester history.

Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea how many things were being filtered out. Curious to see these warnings.

I have a couple episodes left and maybe I’ll never finish it. As a completist something has to be bad for that to happen.

You can find tables of pounds of Swiss Chard and corn grown as well as tons of garbage collected by the “Scavenger Department”. Unfortunately, there is lack of residents’ stories in their own words. I would love if someone tracked down the elders who are still alive who could tell those stories.

While you’re in the local history section, you can also just read old meeting notes and reports like this one.

When researching the Home Farm for Happiness Pony, I found David Wagner’s, The Poorhouse: America’s Forgotten Institution, to be a great resource. It’s available in the local history section of the WPL.
