Not very manly according to some... I wonder if I shouldn't just make up some exciting story of prison, French Foreign Legion or being kidnapped on a business trip to have a more interesting and engaging story to share... Write my own 'legend' back story that would get me 'free beer for life'...

Yes... Take a few years out of the rat race to look after an elderly relative, and try explaining that gap on the resume... you go from the short list to the circular filing cabinet in one conversation...

Now they have run up a huge debt and been milked for all they can be, the taxpayers get the utility back, including all the problems, balance sheet debt, infrastructure needs etc... seems like a great deal - for those selling it back to the people...

I think the C & H vibe would be more peering into hotel room windows with a news crew ready to record... could also see this becoming a Japanese Game Show style of entrapment "you've won tickets to..." host then draws curtain back, squid guts pour from ceiling - then shame, confession, laughter...

Welcome to the world of dogs... it is instinctive for them... as soon as they jump in water, they relieve themselves...
If you do have that canine mutation gene, I suggest you stay away from hydrants and power poles - you will embarrass you social group everytime...

A smart government (not the ones we have) would have introduced a new visa and attracted talent in the industries we need to develop locally - the university sector would have been incentivised to facilitate such a 5 year program.
Would also have had simple pathways to citizenship...
