Annoyed, I stared at the data sheet containing the test results. It had nearly a hundred variables. As an analyst, I began examining each variable, looking for the story the data was telling. At first glance, it conveyed the same message: "I am weak-ish”.

It's about confidence and a refusal to seek approval from others. They speak slowly and deliberately, maintain their composure, and never create unnecessary fuss. It's like a masterclass in presence.

One option would be to accept the loss and focus on salvaging the chips that fell out. These could be the interim product, rights, processes, new knowledge or know-how, etc. But one type of loss is nearly impossible to recover—the one that results in reputation loss.

So when the time comes to budget, all ingredients are in place and we know where we are going as an organization, what we are trying to achieve, what we need, who we need and what we have (and don't have) to get there.

The only constant is change, in technology, markets, micro and macro (economic, political, insert any adjective) conditions and landscapes. Organizations will review their partnership pool at least yearly, reaffirm or dissolve alliances, and make sure they work. Otherwise (an adage), what’s a point?

The change in the organization’s direction and strategy will affect its partnerships. The events of recent days, weeks, and months illustrate that even if mutual commitments were confirmed as late as April, today they are not worth the paper they were written on.
