It is hard to overstate the beauty and power of the "Queen's Gambit" in both the game and in life. (I will not provide a detailed interpretation here for brevity, but you can look it up.)Two words-control and strategy. Wins every time.

Some mistakes are constlier than others, as events of recent days show. What to do if we made a decision that resulted in multi-million dollar loss (we are past risk mitigation here, the loss occurred already, either it is a literal or figurative investment)?

My feed today is filled with risk assessment and management discussions. Not that anyone needs to know, but as a pragmatist with a capital "P," I tend to be risk-averse (to extent). I prefer a risk mitigation approach that focuses on avoidance—”Don’t put yourself in the situation in the first place”

Despite the opportunities in the message delivery, I still think that the blog highlighted something positive, namely that the work is happening, regardless of whether it is going to be an answer to everything or not. Small, tiny steps, neat or not..

Strategic partnerships are clearly on everyone's radar right now, and for good reason. They are the cornerstone of any successful initiative.

Along with portfolios, strategic partnerships undergo periodic reevaluation as well. As much as we would like to believe that strategic partnerships are immutable, they do change. They are partnerships that align to organization’s strategy.

We talked about the need to increase resources within the organization. Just as vital is the need to manage and minimize losses. A systematic review of the portfolio will help identify projects and initiatives that no longer align with the vision, allowing to focus efforts where they truly count.

1)Succession planning is a leader's responsibility. Respecting the latter can help avoid many issues.
2) Consistency is a key, in performance and communication, especially when communicating externally. It’s ok to say, “We are still working on this. Here is the direction we are considering.”
