A Finnish ad for Kia. The slogan roughly translates to “O these days of our Lives”. The poetic word for life, “elo,” is in genetive case and capitalized. Underneath (freely translated): “If you are having second thoughts about driving an American EV, come see our beautiful cars for a new era.”

What you're looking at here is a close-up on a cross-section of a fruit native to China. Genus Actinidia, also called 'Chinese gooseberry'.

They enjoyed global commercial success only after New Zealand growers rebranded their exports to the US in 1959 as "Kiwifruit"

To 'curry favor' references curry-combing of horses, but there's more to it than you might think!

The full phrase in Old French was 'correier fauvel'

Literally: "curry the chestnut/dun horse" because chestnut horses in French stories represented deceit & cunning.
