Bishop Michael Pham, Pope Leo XIV’s first appointment, and first Vietnamese American to lead an American diocese, is calling on people of faith to stand with immigrants.

He joined immigrants at the San Diego courthouse today in solidarity, and ICE left empty handed.

Today I glimpsed who God is forming our church to be: testimonies from friends serving our neighbors who experience homelessness, our Associate Pastor proclaimed the gospel into these evil days before directing us to pray in groups, and our children led us to the table with palm branches and praise.

I joined today's Hands Øff protest not because protesting is the best or only way to respond to injustice or because I agree with the many different perspectives represented.

No, I joined because I'm a Christian, called to bear witness to the truth and to stand in love with and for my neighbors.

Every reasoned is a lesson. This is like a parable.
There was a lot of #AcademicFreedom, good scholarship, and independent thought in German universities before Hitler. After Hitler had risen to power, many academics fled the country. Some resisted the Nazi regime and were persecuted. Most adapted to a new situation. Here are some examples. 1/n

So thankful that @esaumccaulley.bsky.social wrote the foreword to my new book!
*Becoming God's Family* is for 4 groups of people:
1. Those on the verge of leaving the church, looking for "one good reason to stay"
2. Those who've left and wonder what they're missing

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Of all the terrible news from the past month, I’m not sure anything has broken my heart like this story of vulnerable Christians being detained, deported, and imprisoned. Solidarity with Christ is solidarity with these sisters and brothers.
