Minnesota is willingly boxing themselves into a HC-GM pairing setup that historically lasts only 2.21 years, with more than half of those partnerships lasting less than 2 seasons.

I'd be willing to bet that every other major NFL decision-maker would have made the exact same choice last offseason.
That said, if the Vikings wanted to move on from him, why one earth wait until the end of Senior Bowl week???
