Third book on the Women’s Prize for Fiction longlist finished. I hadn’t heard of Amma by Saraid de Silva before the prize and I hope this brings her work to more people. Really enjoyed this despite being slightly weary of the “three generations of women” structure in general.

Hot proof alert: Vera, or Faith, the new novel by Gary Shteyngart is out @atlanticbooks.bsky.social in August. Reviewers/booksellers/librarians hmu. Karen Russell says it’s “a novel that you can read in one sitting that will stay with you forever.”

Hot proofs! Today I’ll be packaging up proofs for an @atlanticbooks.bsky.social lead 2025 title, The Savage, Noble Death of Babs Dionne by Ron Currie. Babs is a doting grandmother and vicious crime matriarch. Her youngest daughter is missing and now the whole town will feel her wrath.

I always have three books on the go at once: one physical book, one ebook (my son doesn’t sleep well and I’m often awake in the night, so being able to read with the light off is a must), and one audiobook. Here are my current three, which happens to be a pretty good spread of my reading tastes:
