The issue only came out this month. I interviewed key figures in the opera world: artistic directors, a composer, a world class singer (3x Grammy Award winner), & someone who adjudicated funding for 25 years, etc. It is a travesty for us to invest so much time & $ & never to see these works again.

I read a great line the other day in the NYT book review: "Erasure is combat, but so is remembering'. As hard as they tried to erase my peoples (Indigenous), it didn't work, and the sheer volume of 'remembering' that's going on now is astonishing.

when I was in A'stan I met an American woman working for an NGO that visited women prisoners (and their children) in jail. She brought them beads, fabric, embroidery thread, tiny mirrors, and the women would make various items which the woman would sell. Money from sales fed the women and children.
