My feature article, 'L'avenir est MAINTENANT!', in the Summer 2025 issue of Opera Canada magazine. Question: How come a successful and ground-breaking opera such as our Li Keur has sunk to the bottom of the cultural ocean? Read my interviews with leading lights from contemp. opera to find out why!!

Cleaned the 19th century Arapaho beaded strap that I inherited from my father-in-law. Trying to identify the faceted metallic beads.

'Cease & Desist-Separatist Threats' letter to Danielle Smith from Chief Sheldon Sunshine & Chief Billy-Joe Tuccaro. As an Indigenous person, I wholeheartedly agree: if Smith and her separatist pals are 'unhappy living on Treaty lands, they are free to apply for citizenship elsewhere'.

from the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada: "Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians changed their smart office attire for military uniforms to protect their homes and families ... Amid war, Ukrainian suits may look different, but they are all worn with ultimate dignity."

Canadians are tough, really tough. Anyone whose gone to w@r with them KNOWS. For 2 yrs I was embedded with Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry to A'stan. I spent time with other troops too, including the Vin Doos (Royal 22e Régiment de Québec). Cnds are tough. We don't abide by bullies.

From Indian Country south of the Medicine Line. What perversity drives these indignities aimed at Indigenous nations? Mineral rights? But we've seen it all before. Gen0cide was attempted and failed. And Indigenous folks have the long view, at least seven generations (in either direction) long.

Rest well, Michael Longley, Irish poet, bard, thinker. My days/hours in your company, with Edna, were amongst my richest. Always generous, you are one of the few poets I make sure I have EVERY one of their books. Heartbroken and grateful for you, and especially Edna, the great love of your life.

This photo is from a piece I published in On Site Review, a beautiful architectural publication I write for fairly frequently. The theme was Houses and Housing. I wrote about my grandmother's Red River Métis peoples who carried 'home' with them everywhere, always beautiful.

in Toronto for a Ruby Award as a 'Game Changer' on behalf of our amazing artistic team from Li Keur.

In nov., flying to Taronna to pick up an award from Opera Canada on behalf of our entire creative team! We are, apparently, game-changers. Understatement i.m.o., written in 5 languages (3 Indigenous), I played with opera form, and with a HUGE village of creatives, we made something truly our own!

A wrap on Week 1 of Li Keur rehearsals. Fantastic watching characters from my head, my stories, come alive. The collegiality this cast is fantastic to watch & by the time I return, Alex Kusturok, co-composer & guitarist Jordan McConnell will bring a HUGE bursts of Métis energy to the work! Maarsii!

First week of rehearsals on my new Métis opera with our amazing cast of performers led by Métis director Simon Miron. Today, after close readings (table work) of the script, and a sing through of the score (music by Métis fiddler Alex Kusturok and Neil Wiesensel) ça commence!
