This bear and her two cubs dropped out of a tree about 60 yards from me while I was on a day hike on the Arizona Trail in Flagstaff on Wednesday. Amazing how quickly your state of mind can go from confusion to terror to wow, this is really cool!

New electricity rate hike from APS in Arizona. 16% residential hike. Glad I live in northern Arizona and don’t need air conditioning. Natural gas prices will be going up though too, just in time for winter.

Trilogy of Terror. Watched it alone on broadcast tv when I was 8. Gargoyles and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark were also terrifying tv movies. Amazing they put such good, scary stuff on the air in the ‘70s.

The North Rim Lodge at Grand Canyon N.P. burned down last night. It was a very special place, probably my favorite place in the world. Just seems like everything good is under attack these days.

These two creeped me out too. All tv movies on prime time on the 3 major networks. Scarred me for life.
