GENERAL ORV SPOILER WARNING
collective orv account of a few fans!! (there'll be a list here once i figure out how to do that)
ofc orv is a standout in the genre because of how well everything came together,,, theres many examples of serial media that had too much going on at once with not enough depth or real conclusions/answers and did nooot stick the landing LOL

and yet another example of how perfectly orv's form and genre are suited to its themes and messages :)

it enables a style of on-the-fly storytelling where the author begins by tossing up tons of ideas and concepts, and over the course of publication starts forming connections between them and slowly paring it all down to a "story". its a style that lets the audience be particularly involved...

theres a lot of popular media nowadays thats created serially or at least, written in chunks with lots of time in between for the audience to respond. popular manga for instance, or even stuff like gacha game plotlines

serial works such as orv are such an interesting artform because they can be shaped by the interaction between writer and audience as they read it together... although i cant prove anything i suspect uriel for instance was a character that ss came to really love as the series progressed lol
September 5, 2025 at 5:41 AM
its also fun to think about it... just as the serial reader who began reading orv isnt the same person as the person who finished it, perhaps the singshong who began writing were also changed by the experience, and the story too changed as it was being written. its something unique to a serial novel

contrast to yjh's goal oriented approach to scenarios: if it can be cleared most easily and efficiently by killing everyone in the scenario then he'll just do that because why not? but what story are you telling, in that case? why does that matter? why would anyone want to watch a story?

in order to tell a story that can appeal to the constellations, while also not compromising anything he believes in, and reach those beings that exist so far away... the only thing that can do that is a real and sincere connection, right?
September 5, 2025 at 5:32 AM
kdj's putting on a show for the constellations, and in order to succeed he has to appeal to them... so what do the constellations want? they want to see incarnations suffer and struggle, yeah, but what do they really want?
September 5, 2025 at 5:29 AM
and the question keeps coming up as people ask him... what is your story about? what are the giant stories that you need for it and what are those giant stories about, really? where are you headed towards? what is your ■■? what kind of ending do you want to see? is it the same as mine?

and because he now knows what it's like to not be alone, even though when he ends the same way as he started, as a lone reader on the subway, it becomes a tragedy. because now that he's a human, he knows what loneliness is, and he can't go back to being a mere reader, he can't let go of that 2%...

compared to how he was at the start, kdj becomes more human, in a real way, as the story progresses... by being seen by other people

to such a person, what would it mean to have someone who wouldn't reject your story, no matter how clumsy or full of mistakes it was? to have someone who wouldnt get tired of that story even after 20000 years, who would ask you to keep writing it forever.

and if you consider how she commandeered yuri's story in kaizenix, the same pattern appears: futility, defiance, revenge, and most of all loneliness...

the daughter of an actress and a politician whose very existence caused trouble for her parents. perhaps, she's spent her whole life trying to prove to the world that she deserves to exist. but somehow no matter how successful she is, it never seems to be quite enough.
August 17, 2025 at 9:29 PM
i think perhaps... a lot of her cynicism came from the disillusionment when it seemed like her readers were getting tired of her after a short time or demanding things. especially if you consider her backstory as an unwanted child who grew up rich but in an empty home
August 17, 2025 at 9:28 PM
she scrolls through messages from her readers, but all of them are asking her for something--i want payoff, this is getting boring, give me something interesting or i'll leave! so it's no wonder that she felt so jealous and angry to see that flawed and unpopular work with such a dedicated reader...
August 17, 2025 at 9:23 PM
and yet one of the biggest reveals we get into her perspective on writing happens in the date scene where she gets to show off her porsche (girlboss moment!) and yet she feels unfulfilled
August 17, 2025 at 8:21 PM
i think its interesting that she's always preferred to stay in the shadows and can be surprisingly reserved (recall the interview arc where she hides in the back with kdj, and that kimcom karaoke trivia about how she won't sing) similar to kdj, she's a showman, but rarely shows true vulnerability
August 17, 2025 at 8:18 PM
shes better than anyone else in the world at figuring out what the readers want to see. but what does she want? and why does she write, anyways?
