The problems with a great deal of shipping discourse come back to that, I think.

Like Metropolis, the visual motifs in Hazbin blend futuristic technology with biblical and occult images. They work together perfectly in context. That said, Hazbin seems to be progressing toward a very different conclusion than Metropolis...

Maybe they imprinted on DBZ at an early age and the process shaped their expectations for all other fiction.

The title of "Vox Dei" excited me, so I was imagining the number to be something like a hybrid of "Metal Gods" and "My Name Is Mok." I was somewhat disappointed that the actual villain song was very brief, but the image of Vox as a monstrous cyber-angel made up for that.

Yes, you can make the case that *most* cinema of the fantastic is influenced by Metropolis and that of course #HazbinHotel has German expressionism in its DNA. The imagery of Hazbin, though, has even more overlap with that of Metropolis than many live-action science fiction movies.
