It’s no surprise I had the only bike at Kaiser Sunnyside today. It takes six buttons and seven minutes of waiting to cross the street and two freeway ramps to go from the hospital to the other side of I-205. And that’s on a bike, not walking.

Almost to the end of a (successful!) #weekwithoutdriving. Today’s tally: 30 miles biked, one latte, one haircut, one driver who tried to right hook me on N. Willamette was duly admonished.

I preordered mine a while back on Bookshop.org! Cars cost an average of $12,000 a year to operate and I want a better life for us all than being dependent on a car for daily transportation!

Was over at PCC Southeast tonight, and for a campus that suffers from big car parking problems, and is also served by multiple bus lines, I DON’T LOVE the fact that their “welcome to campus” messaging is all about driving a car. It also has good bike parking there — maybe not so car-centric?

Even the iconic Marina City in Chicago is a big parking garage (that is half empty, wasting valuable real estate.)

It truly bums me out to get anti-heat pump propaganda in the mail from a utility that I have to pay as long as I limp along with a gas stove. My heating bills with a heat pump are significantly less than when I had a gas furnace in this house.
