There have been very few arrests for drug possession—or any drug offense—in Philly this year to date (YTD), relative to this same date in years past (see pic)

We also have fewer homicides YTD than in any year since 1965. ❤️

We have fewer homicides YTD than in any year since at least 2007. ❤️

These septa cuts are not a short term issue as impact of this political attack on young Philadelphians will endure. They don’t want kids from Philly to have the tools to succeed so that they can put them in their prisons instead. That’s what they want, and this must be responded to accordingly.

Research on front page. Housing. Rental assistance. RCT. Big impact.

Philly first in nation. Hopefully we keep this energy and scale this up!

Lots of incredible RCTs out of Philly showing non-law enforcement approaches—this, greening, lights—work

Line graph showing local jail population each year. After initial drop below 5,000 in first year of Krasner administration, population stayed below 5k.

We went below 4,000 in April 2020 w/ COVID-era efforts, but above 4,000 in 2021, 22, 23, 24.

Population has been under 4,000 for much of 2025

I’ve mentioned house/deed theft a few times to criminologists who had never heard of it. Does this also happen in your jurisdiction?

See story and this map @wesweaver.bsky.social made

Special thanks to Katie Bartolotta for including us, and CM Landau for shoutout to #57Blocks Coalition and #DATALab for our role in supporting Philadelphia Energy Authority efforts to install LED lights in places experiencing gun violence. A great place-based non-law enforcement strategy.

So excited to attend press conference highlighting research showing positive impact of new lights in philly on reductions in crime.

Implementation was informed by data we provided, and evaluated by Chalfin et al at Penn: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

Good article on civil responses to illegal dumping

Questionable framing here though! (pic)

Occasional reminder: arrests precede prosecutions. Some criminologists confused about this too.
